About Preluma

Preparation should feel personal.

Preluma brings physician-led, multidisciplinary prehabilitation into the home—helping older adults build strength, mobility, nutrition, and confidence before a medical challenge.

Why we exist

Too much care begins after the setback.

Preluma was created around a simple idea: the time before surgery, cancer treatment, or a serious fall can be used more deliberately. Preparation can identify modifiable risks, strengthen the body, and give patients and families a clearer plan.

Our approach is shaped by prehabilitation research and care models from leading institutions in Canada, the United States, and the NHS in the UK. It is designed for the realities of daily life—especially for people who may find repeated clinic visits, unfamiliar technology, or generic exercise plans difficult.

Every program begins with the person: their health, home, goals, treatment timeline, and existing healthcare team. Preluma complements medical care; it does not replace it.

How we work

Clinical thinking.
Human delivery.

Care should be rigorous enough for the health challenge ahead and practical enough to use in everyday life.

01

Physician-led

Clinical risk, medical context, and appropriate escalation are built into how programs are designed and coordinated.

02

Multidisciplinary

Physiotherapy, kinesiology, nutrition, and coaching work together around shared goals rather than in disconnected pieces.

03

Delivered at home

The plan reflects the spaces, routines, supports, and practical barriers that shape how a person actually moves and recovers.

What patients can expect

Dignity, clarity, and a plan built around you.

No pressure to use technology. No one-size-fits-all targets. No promises that overlook individual risk.

01

Clear explanations

We explain what is recommended, why it matters, what it costs, and where the evidence has limits.

02

Practical support

Sessions and follow-up are adapted to your home, abilities, communication preferences, and support network.

03

Care-team connection

With your consent, concerns can be coordinated with the clinicians already responsible for your care.

04

Measured progress

Appropriate baseline measures and reassessment help the program evolve as your health or treatment changes.

Physician-founded.
Built around the patient.

Lior Krimus, MD, FRCPC — Founding Physician

Dr. Krimus is an anesthesiologist, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and a faculty member at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Medicine. Early in his career, he grew frustrated watching patients arrive for surgery unprepared and go on to face complications that better preparation might have prevented. That pattern led him to immerse himself in the study of prehabilitation (prehab). He founded Preluma to bring structured, physician-led prehab into the home before surgery, cancer treatment, or a serious fall.

His approach is informed by prehab training and research from McGill University (a leading centre for prehab research), the University of Toronto, Harvard, and Duke, alongside multidisciplinary care models pioneered internationally. At Preluma, he provides clinical oversight, reviews patient information, and builds individualized programs with physiotherapists, kinesiologists, and registered dietitians.

Dr. Krimus provides clinical oversight and program design at Preluma but is not the treating physician for Preluma patients. His services constitute health coaching. Preluma's programs are delivered by its multidisciplinary team of licensed physiotherapists, kinesiologists, dietitians, and other allied health professionals, and are not a substitute for the care and advice of a patient's own physician or surgical/oncology team.
